Meta Debuts Pocket: Vibe-Coded Gaming App

Meta launched Pocket, a new app allowing users to generate small, interactive games and apps using AI prompts, on June 29, 2026, according to Appfigures data cited by TechCrunch. This platform aims to make AI creation tools more accessible for mainstream users.

Pocket is described as a "creative platform for making and sharing gizmos," which are the interactive experiences users create within the app . The app's quiet launch, initially as a test in Brazil in July, signifies Meta's continued push into consumer-facing AI applications before its wider rollout in the U.S.

This development follows Meta's acquisition of the team behind Gizmo, a similar vibe-coded gaming platform, earlier this year . The strategic acqui-hire of Atma Sciences' team has provided the technological foundation for Pocket, enabling its unique AI-driven features.

Creating Interactive Gizmos with AI Prompts

The core functionality revolves around using text prompts to develop these interactive media. Users can simply describe their desired game or app, and Meta's AI system translates that input into a playable gizmo. This significantly lowers the barrier to entry for content creation, moving away from traditional coding requirements.

The app also features a scrollable social feed where users can discover and play with gizmos made by others. This promotes community engagement and allows for the rapid sharing and iteration of AI-generated content. It transforms content creation into a social activity, much like sharing photos or videos on other Meta platforms.

This initiative expands Meta's efforts to integrate AI into everyday creative processes. Pocket allows individuals to turn abstract ideas into tangible, playable experiences directly from their mobile devices, democratizing aspects of game and app development. The emphasis is on simple, accessible tools for broad adoption.

How Does Pocket Align with Meta's AI Strategy?

Meta has been consistently integrating AI features across its social platforms and within its video-editing app, Edits. Pocket builds on this foundation, providing another avenue for users to engage with AI in a creative capacity. A Meta spokesperson affirmed, "We're starting to roll out Pocket, a new app that turns your ideas into interactive creations you can play with and share right from your phone." This highlights Meta's commitment to making AI tools readily available for its vast user base.

The company's focus on user-generated content, powered by AI, aligns with its broader vision for the future of digital interaction. By making sophisticated AI tools accessible, Meta encourages mass experimentation and innovation. This also creates a feedback loop, as "your interactions with gizmos on Pocket will be used to improve AI at Meta," according to the company's help center description . This continuous data input is vital for refining Meta's underlying AI models and enhancing future product offerings.

This strategy expands on Meta's history of innovation in social interaction, now leveraging AI to empower users as creators. It moves beyond passive consumption, inviting active participation in shaping digital experiences. For example, similar AI building tools are emerging in other areas, such as Anthropic's leaked AI builder for full-stack apps, indicating a wider industry trend.
